….the end of a difficult week (for us) arrives. I’ve been remiss in not blogging but to be honest it hasn’t felt quite right and anyway, I’ve wanted to spend as much time with Dave as possible. We heard today from the coroner. The results of the post mortem were that Dave’s mum died from pulmonary and cardiac failure caused by the complications of a prolonged bowel obstruction which was due to a hernia. It’s very hard for Dave and his sister to hear this as it means that she must have been in pain for some time but didn’t say anything.
On the school front, it’s been a good week. I’ve been kept busy with various meetings during school time which has meant the children having a different teacher but at long last they are responding better to change. They’re definitely growing up now! Yesterday I had to attend the fourth meeting this year regarding the phonics programme we’ve been trialling this year. I had to travel about 50 miles for a meeting that started at 4pm and finished at 5pm, ugh! At the first of the meetings back in January, we offered our school as a venue for a future meeting only to be told “Sorry, but no one will want to travel that far.” PFFFFF! But it’s ok for us to travel 40-60 miles each time! I’ve been asked to become a trainer when the programme goes national next academic year but I’m a little reluctant to have time away from my class as it looks like next year’s group are going to be particularly needy. We’ll see.
At the moment I’m not sure what’s happening this weekend. I’ll be going with whatever Dave wants to do for a change…normally it’s the other way round 🙂 Tomorrow, my son flies off to a Greek island to do a week’s work with his girlfriend’s dad who’s bought three villas over there. I’m fairly sure that it won’t be all work and no play!
